Criminal Investigations:
The Criminal Investigations Section is responsible for investigating the majority of the complex crimes against persons and property occurring in unincorporated El Paso County. The section includes the Major Crimes Unit, the General Investigations Unit, and the Sex Crimes Unit. These units are overseen by the Criminal Investigations Section Lieutenant.
The Major Crimes Unit consists of one sergeant and four detectives. These detectives are responsible for investigating the majority of crimes against persons occurring in unincorporated El Paso County. These cases include: Homicide, Robbery, Kidnapping and major Assaults.
The General Investigations Unit consists of one sergeant and three detectives. These detectives are responsible for investigating a majority of the property crimes which occur in the unincorporated area of El Paso County. These cases include but are not limited to: residential burglaries, business burglaries, thefts and motor vehicle thefts.
The Sex Crimes Unit of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office consists of one sergeant, four detectives and a Sex Offender Coordinator. The four detectives are responsible for investigating all sexual offenses reported to the Sheriff’s Office. These cases include but are not limited to: sexual assault of adults, sexual assaults on children, and incest. These detectives are also responsible for conducting follow-up on all sex offenders in El Paso County.
