The Technical Support Section consists of the Cold Case Unit, Metro Crime Lab Unit, Evidence Unit, Victim Assistance Unit, Computer Crime Unit and the Financial Crimes Unit. These units are supervised by an Inspector.
With the proliferation and emerging use of the internet, identity theft, computer forensics, and DNA, it is incumbent upon law enforcement to have personnel able to investigate complex crimes. The Technical Support Section is responsible for overseeing technically specialized investigative issues. This section also provides services for victims of crime and the storage of evidence obtained from a crime.
