Grant Coordinator

The Grant Coordinator's main duty is to research and identify national, state, local, and philanthropic sources of funding and to review solicitations for law enforcement-related grants. In addition, the grant coordinator works closely with the Sheriff's Office staff in order to match projects to appropriate grants. Included in these duties is the coordination and preparation of grant proposals, as well as the monitoring of awards and ensuring compliance with all financial reporting requirements.

Sheriff’s Office Applies for Justice Assistance Grant

 

On July 8, 2008, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department will be submitting a joint application for the 2008 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) to the Bureau of Justice Assistance.  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office welcomes comments, concerns or questions regarding our proposed use of this funding.  Please direct your inquires and comments to Janet DeLuca, Sheriff’s Office Grant Coordinator, at JanetDeLuca@elpasoco.com.

 

Detentions Bureau Technology Enhancement:  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Detentions Bureau, is requesting the purchase of an Electronic Fingerprinting System.  This item is to replace the worn electronic fingerprinting system at the Criminal Justice Center (CJC). The current equipment at CJC is failing and due to the age of the current equipment, parts to replace it are difficult to locate.  Fingerprinting is a critical part of the intake process and this piece of equipment must be replaced.

Detentions Bureau Officer Safety:  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Detentions Bureau, Floor Security Section, has requested the purchase of Ear-Hugger Acoustic Tube Headphones.  This device will be issued to Floor Security Deputies at the Criminal Justice Center.  This enables them to be aware of security issues within the jail and to hear communications throughout the wards while maintaining confidentiality around the inmates.

Enhancing Detentions Bureau:  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Detentions Bureau, Intake and Release Section, has requested the purchase of a heavy duty paper shredder for their work area.  Confidentiality is a key priority within this area and a paper shredder is needed to help maintain this priority.

Officer Safety:  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Detentions and Patrol Deputies, are requesting the purchase of 13 Tasers for less than lethal methods of controlling potentially dangerous situations and increasing public safety.  In addition to the Tasers, the Sheriff’s Office will also purchase an additional 10 holsters to replace broken and worn holsters.
