Mounted Unit
The Mounted Unit is assigned to the Special Operations Section. The purpose of the Unit is to act as a community oriented and problem-solving unit. The Mounted Unit facilitates the Farm and Ranch Watch Program in El Paso County. It is comprised of two full time deputies, two office owned horses, and five auxiliary members. The auxiliary deputies provide and care for their own horses. The unit is widely accepted and loved by the public. The Mounted Unit is used in specific instances such as crowd control, patrolling County Parks, patrolling sectors within the County, and searches. When you see the Mounted Unit, we encourage you to come by and talk with the deputies and visit with the horses. Please feel free to offer comments. We are confident you will enjoy the interaction.
