Special Weapons and Tactics
The S.W.A.T. Team is a highly trained and motivated unit of officers who excel at performing very specialized missions.
The team has 18 members, each possessing experience in a variety of skills, who, when working in unison, help ensure a positive outcome of the mission.
Those missions include, but are not limited to:
- High Risk Warrant Service
- Hostage Situation
- Barricaded Subjects
- Dignitary Protection
It is the #1 objective to ensure the safety of all persons involved in any mission which the S.W.A.T. Team is deployed on. Concern for public safety, as well as the team's safety, cannot be stressed enough as the S.W.A.T. Team accomplishes a mission.

The Crime Reduction Unit
The Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), is a specialized problem-solving unit. CRU deputies will take on some of the more serious trouble in our community, such as methamphetamine manufacturing and violent fugitives. The unit, whose members are also SWAT deputies, uses tactics such as “knock-and-talks” to find unlawful activities involving drugs and/or weapons. CRU deputies are also available for deployment in areas where statistics have identified crime patterns. CRU deputies are charged with reducing street crime in a proactive manner. They will work with our own internal units as well as with other agencies in order to stem the flow of narcotics and illegal activities in our community.
