Temporary Restraining Order Application Process
If you need to obtain a restraining order against:
- Your current or former boyfriend or husband.
- Your current or former girlfriend or wife.
- Child.
- Parent, in-law and family by marriage / common law.
- Someone who has sexually assaulted / raped you.

If you need to obtain a restraining order against:
- A friend or co-worker.
- An acquaintance.
- A stranger.
- Your current partner's "ex".
- A non-family member.
- Neighbor.
You will need to go to the Courthouse at 20 E. Vermijo, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 (between Tejon and Cascade). Obtain the paperwork in Room 101 between 9 - 10 a.m. and file it in Room 105.
There is a cost.
These rooms are closed between 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
To appear before a judge today, you must file your restraining order paperwork by 10:15 a.m. Court starts at 11 a.m.
Upon receipt / approval of the restraining order you will need to bring it to the Civil Section of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office for service (210 S. Tejon, Colorado Springs, CO 80903).
Court Care
- Child care is available to you while you are in court or on court-related business.
- Court care is for children ages six weeks through 12 years. Phone (719) 578-5190.
- If you would like a referral to Court Care, come in to T.E.S.S.A. (19 E. Cimarron, Colorado Springs CO, 80903) for a referral.
- Court Care is located at 309 S. Cascade, just south of Cascade / Vermijo intersection (around the corner from the court house).
