Additionally, the Office will ensure that sworn positions at each rank receive an equal base salary regardless of the employee's assignment.

The following are the minimum qualifications for the position of deputy sheriff:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must be financially responsible.
  • Must be in good health.
  • Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20.
  • Weight must be in proportion to height.

Applicants will not be considered if they have been convicted of a felony, certain misdemeanors, domestic violence or a crime of moral turpitude.

Applicants may not be considered for employment if they have ever sold or used illegal drugs. Any illegal usage of marijuana within the past 12 months and/or other illegal drug usage within the last five (5) years, may exclude the candidate from the hiring process.
