Sheriff's Office Looking for Male Suspect in Fraud Case

On Thursday, July 7, 2016, a male suspect used a stolen credit card from a victim in El Paso County to make several fraudulent purchases at the Park Meadows Mall and surrounding area. 
 
The purchases included $400 at the Cheese Cake Factory, several small charges at vending machines, and a $100 charge at a Starbucks in Littleton.

After two years of planning and preparation, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and City of Fountain are proud to announce the consolidation of the Fountain Communication Center with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.  The transition of emergency call taking and dispatching services will become effective on Monday, August 8, 2016.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Female Suspect in Fraud Case

On May 3, 2016, a victim's ENT Federal Credit Union credit card was used at an Auto Air & Vacuum at an unknown time. On May 5, 2016, at approximately 1:00 PM, an unknown female fraudulently used the same credit card at the King Soopers grocery store located at 7284 Lagae Road in Castle Rock in the amount of $127.68.
 
The victim was in possession of the old card, which suggests the credit card may be a cloned card, and comprised from a skimmer.
 

El Paso County Sheriff's Office Passes Prison Rape Elimination Act Audit

In June of this year, the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center underwent a four day audit by the United States Department of Justice.  This is the first Prison Rape Elimination Act Audit to be conducted at the Criminal Justice Center.  Of the 43 standards, we exceeded 8, met 33 and two were not applicable.

Sheriff's Office Asking for Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Fraud Case

On August 6, 2015, at approximately 8:55 AM, a fraudulent purchase was made with a stolen credit card  at the Walmart located at 4425 Venetucci Boulevard in Colorado Springs. A single charge for $564.88 was made, and a second attempt for $235.27 was denied. Prior to that, the card was used at the Rivon Gas Station, located at 4140 US Highway 85/87 for a small purchase.

On Monday, July 25, 2016, the Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a possible sexual assault on a child involving a coach from a business in the Fountain area.   The offense allegedly occurred on multiple occasions at several different locations. The information surrounding the allegation of inappropriate contact between a coach and 15 year old was initially provided to the deputy, who in turn involved detectives from our Investigations Division, Special Victims Unit.

On Saturday, July 16, 2016, the Sheriff's Office took a report for missing juvenile runaway, Alexis Brown DOB: 11/10/2000. She was last seen on Saturday, July 16, 2016, around Peterson Road and Constitution Avenue where she resides.  It is likely she may be in the Pueblo area.

Alexis is approximately 5’4 tall, weighs 235lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Missing Male and Female

On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, the Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious incident in the 1200 black of Piros Drive.  Based on evidence found at the home, as well as witness interviews, this has turned into a missing person's case.

We are looking for Caelie Connors, DOB: 1/29/93.  Caelie is described as a White female who is 5'3" tall, weighing approximately 70-80lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes.  She was last seen in the 3400 block of North El Paso Street on July 12, 2016.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Suspects in Criminal Trespass Auto Case

On Monday, June 27, 2016, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office began an investigation regarding a Criminal Trespass Auto case.  The victim parked and locked her vehicle in the Black Forest Regional Park parking lot and was walking the trails between the hours of 12:00 - 1:00 PM. When she returned to her vehicle, she found the driver side door lock had been punched and her purple “Sherpani” purse had been stolen.

Stage I Fire Restrictions in Place for Unincorporated El Paso County

Due to the continued dry conditions and the National Weather Service forecast for continued dry and warmer than normal conditions, resulting in very high to extreme fire danger ratings, Deputy Fire Warden John Padgett has ordered Stage I Fire Restrictions for all of the unincorporated areas of El Paso County.  The Stage I Fire Restrictions shall go into effect immediately and the following are prohibited:

On Saturday, June 11, 2016, the Sheriff's Office took a report for missing juvenile runaway, Marquis Medina who is also known as Esteban Arellano DOB: 10/29/1999. He was last seen on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in the Calhan area where he resides, but is also known to have ties to Canon City. 

Marquis is approximately 5’11 tall, weighs165lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in a forgery case.  On April 24, 2016, an unknown suspect passed several forged checks at the Highlands Ranch area Walmart and King Soopers with the fraudulent name of “Nicholas Nasta” printed in the upper left block of the check. 
 

Rider in ATV Accident Identified

On July 3, 2016, at approximately 2:15 PM, the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an ATV accident which had occurred off-road near the intersection of Mesa Ridge Parkway and Autumn Glen Avenue, in Colorado Springs. 

Medical personnel responded and began life-saving efforts, which were unsuccessful. 

The ATV rider has been identified as Miguel Diaz, DOB: 8/15/89.  The cause and manner of death will be released at a later date pending toxicology results.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Suspect in Fraud Case

The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in a fraud case.  On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, the victim stated their Bank of Colorado debit card was used to make two charges at Walmart located at 8250 Razorback Road in Colorado Springs.  The first charge was made in the amount of $201.00.  The second charge was just after the first charge in the amount of $206.36.

On Saturday, June 25 6, 2016, the Sheriff's Office took a report for missing person, Claudia Justice, DOB 3/22/1944. She resides in the Peyton area and last seen on Wednesday June 22, 2016.  Her mobile phone was left at her residence.  She drives a white, 2003, Honda CRV with a Colorado license plate 565 VGI.  

Claudia is approximately 5’06” tall, weighing 125lbs, with gray hair and brown eyes.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at about 0721 hours, the CSPD Communications Center received a 911 call indicating that a subject was in the area of Delta Drive and San Marcos Drive in the Sand Creek Division.  The caller indicated that the subject, a 25 year old white male, was walking in the area and was holding a handgun in one hand and an alcoholic beverage in the other.  Sand Creek Officers were dispatched and, upon arriving in the area, contacted this party.

The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of another scam.  In these new cases the caller is asking for money for unpaid school tuition or back taxes using the Sheriff’s Office phone number 719-390-2000.  The caller threatens an arrest warrant will be issued if the money owed is not paid.

Sheriff’s Office Responds to Aircraft Emergency Landing on South Peyton Hwy

On June 18, 2016, at approximately 2:15 PM, The Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received multiple reports of an aircraft in distress with a subsequent parachute deployment in the area of Hwy 94 and Peyton Hwy. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, along with medical and fire fighting personnel from the area, responded and located the aircraft in a pasture near the 1500 Block of South Peyton Hwy.

Meeting on Tom Clements Homicide Investigation

The Sheriff’s Office appreciates meeting with members of the Governor’s Office to discuss the Tom Clements Homicide which remains open at this time, despite what some media outlets have reported.

On June 7, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office sent out letters to all the agencies involved with the Tom Clements Homicide Investigation.  This letter was to inform them of our intent to begin the process of closing out the investigation.  The process will be lengthy and take time.
